The deities Ma’at, Isis, and Nephthys are seen in the art as winged goddesses who carry protective forces. The cliffs of Deir el Bahari have the wing shapes, and the goddess Ma’at resides in the center of the wings. By day the wings of Isis are apparent, as is the throne shape of the Isis throne crown near the horizon. By night the image represents Ma’at. The wings as protective symbolism cloak the remaining simulacra as a whole, and on occasion the books of the dead refer to the neteru as being made in the wings of Isis.
