2. Ammit
The devouring deity Ammit is located in the same place as Anubis, sharing the same portion of the hillside. The term shape-shifting is used to express the change from one deity to another when more than one image is seen in the same location. Imagination and the mind’s eye play a big part in the shape-shifting phenomenon, as does correct shadowing and viewing location. It is apparent that the time of day adds to the magic of the transformation from one deity to another. The Ammit simulacrum is seen both in the day and by the nightlights of the temple at certain times. In simulacrum form, Ammit looks back over her shoulder in the direction of the Osiris simulacrum, just as the judgment papyrus depicts her.
